While most fans expected him to be available at Street Fighter V’s launch, Akuma will instead make his current-gen debut in rival fighting game Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, bringing along his iconic look and moves.
So surprising was his inclusion that many wondered if it was some sort of mistake on developer Bandai Namco’s part. Well, we’re here to tell you it’s no mistake -- Akuma vs Heihachi is the real deal.
Unlike most guest characters, Ryu’s power-hungry nemesis will actually be part of Tekken 7’s lore, having been hired by one of the game’s protagonist to kill a certain ‘someone.’
Akuma made the transition from the near 2D setting of Street Fighter 4
to full 3D without a hitch and plays more like a Street Fighter
character than his Tekken
counterparts. Players get to use all his iconic movies, including the Hadoken, Shoryuken, Tatsu and, of course, Raging Demon.
Watch him dish out some punishment and let us know if you like his overall design...
But as cool as Akuma’s inclusion in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution
is, the only thing Capcom fighting game fans really want is to see him in Street Fighter 5
, where he rightfully belongs.
Are you more likely to play Tekken 7 because he’s in it?
