The Witcher 3 introduces a new playable character by the name of Ciri. You won’t be able to freely switch between her and Geralt, but you will control her during certain parts of the story that developer CD Projekt Red says are very significant. Featured in one of The Witcher 3 trailers, Ciri (full name is Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon) is connected to a long lost elven blood lineage and has ties to Geralt. In The Witcher 3, she is being pursued by The Wild Hunt, a group of mythical and murderous riders, and the Nilfgaard Empire, the most powerful kingdom in the Witcher universe. As indicated by her white hair, Ciri was trained by Geralt to become a part of the Witchers, a group of magical warriors extensively trained in the art of monster-slaying. She is regarded as a living weapon (explains why everyone seems to be after her), with one such ability allowing her to blink from existence as a means to escape attacks. The release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed to May 19, 2015 to ensure it doesn’t launch in a broken state like Assassin’s Creed Unity and Halo The Master Chief Collection, both of which were criticized for having major gameplay-damaging bugs. With Halo, you couldn’t play multiplayer online at launch, while Assassin’s Creed Unity was plagued with so many bugs that an embarrassed Ubisoft issued an apology to gamers. Let’s just hope The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt doesn’t come out of the gate in such a poor state. The action can be experienced on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Which one do you own and why?
