First-person survival horror game Alien: Isolation is now playable on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC. To get everyone excited, Sega released a launch trailer that makes you almost think you’re watching a new Aliens movie. Titled “Arrival”, the trailer provides a preview of Alien: Isolation’s story and shows off some of its CGI and gameplay elements. The game is set in 2137, 15 years after the events of the original Alien movie and 42 years prior to its sequel, Aliens. You play as Amanda Ripley, who has spent her entire life looking for answers about the disappearance of her mother Ellen Ripley. She finally finds something after getting transferred to the space station Sevastopol, but unfortunately for her and her crew, an Alien has already infested the station. Here is the trailer -- watch it and let us know what you think in the comments: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zbLTHHS460?rel=0&showinfo=0&w=700&h=394] Unlike most other video game adaptations of the Alien franchise, Alien: Isolation features only one Alien throughout the story that cannot be killed, requiring you to use stealth tactics in order to survive. And although the game has some weapons, they can only be used against the human occupants and android "Working Joes" of the space station. The Alien has been programmed to actively hunt you by sight, sound and smell and features a complex set of behavioural designs that progressively unlock as it encounters you, effectively creating the illusion that it is learning from your encounters and adjusting its hunting strategy accordingly. Doesn't all of that sound interesting? It's the stuff nightmares are made of, right? To make your life harder, the game features no on-screen heads-up display, requiring you instead to use your inventory to acquire information (e.g. bringing up the motion tracker to locate the Alien). Developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, Alien: Isolation is an ambitious horror game that seems to have what it takes to scare your pants off. Make sure to share your experience with us once you get the chance to play it.
