The detective in question is Sebastian Castellanos. After seeing the slaughter of his fellow officers and then losing consciousness early in the game, he awakens to a changed world. You control him as he tries to make sense of his crazy predicament, scavenging for supplies and learning when to fight or run. In the gameplay demo, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines goes through a few early areas of the game, showing off some of its combat and stealth mechanics. While many modern horror games ditch weapons for a more run-away style of approach, The Evil Within gives the player several powerful defensive tools, such as a shotgun, a revolver, and an axe. But because this is a horror game and not your typical shooter, ammunition will be scarce. Just think something along the lines of early Resident Evil games. If you want a good preview of The Evil Within before you buy it, watch the one hour gameplay video above. After watching it, let us know what you think. The game releases on October 14th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
