Remedy Entertainment has released an extended version of the Quantum Break demo that was shown at Gamescom 2014, giving us brand-new gameplay footage to salivate over. The gameplay demo sheds more light on protagonist Jack Joyce’s time-manipulation powers and how Paul Serene, once his best friend, becomes his deadliest foe. We also get to learn about the different time-amplified gameplay features and see them in action in the action-packed world of Quantum Break. Developed by Finnish video game developer Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios, Quantum Break is set around the fictional North Eastern U.S. Riverport University, where a time-travel experiment has gone wrong. The event not only causes time to break down, but also grants the three main characters -- Jack Joyce, Beth Wilder, and Paul Serene -- the ability to manipulate time. Joyce and co-protagonist Wilder are pursued by Monarch Solutions, a corporation founded by Serene. Remedy Entertainment went the extra mile while developing the game, going as far as to consult a scientist lecturer who had worked at CERN when formulating a plot that adhered to current theoretical physics. Quantum Break features live-action videos blended with regular gameplay and is played from a cover-based third-person perspective, with the player having access to time manipulation powers. Unfortunately for PlayStation, Nintendo and even PC gamers, Quantum Break is exclusively for the Xbox One, considering that Microsoft is doing publishing duties.
