After what seems like a century of waiting, Blizzard has finally released the Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void cinematic trailer, and it looks as awesome as we expected. Legacy of the Void concludes the Starcraft 2 trilogy and follows the Protoss as they struggle to reclaim their home world of Aiur. Even more importantly, they must teams up with the Terrans and the Zerg in preparation for the impending return of the Xel’Naga Amon. The cinematic does an excellent job at showing the fear, trepidation and apparent hopelessness of it all, with just about everyone taking a serious beating. Watch it and share your impressions in the comments below: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUMSMDX5iQc?rel=0&showinfo=0&w=700&h=394] Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void will see the return of all of our favorite characters from the Starcraft universe, including Zeratul, Jim Raynor, Artanis and of course Kerrigan. While a large portion of the story focuses on the Protoss’ efforts to rebuild the shattered remains of their civilization, Amon is the primary issue. The malevolent Xel'Naga controls the hybrids and seeks to remake all life in his image, which entails wiping out the Protoss, Zerg and Terran. Blizzard designer and artist Chris Metzen compares the story to that of the film 300, in which a small force engages a much more powerful one in a desperate last stand. Needless to say, there will be a lot casualties, some of which will surprise you. Surprisingly, Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void will be a standalone expansion, meaning that you will not need Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm to play it. Amazing news, isn't it?
