So prolific is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic that it has left an indelible mark on the minds and hearts of sci-fi RPG fans. In fact, it has been recognized as one of the most influential works of the Star Wars Expanded Universe and among the best the games of all time.

It shouldn’t come as surprise then that a small group of serious fans who so happen to be developers have set forth to re-recreate Knights of the Old Republic using the impressive Unreal Engine 4. Released way back in 2003, KOTOR has looked dated for a while now. To bring it into modern times, Poem Studios (the band of developers) have made graphics a major area of focus for the remake, and it seems they will deliver on that front. Even better, Poem want wants to release the game for free. Although they’re not currently accepting donations, you can volunteer to pitch in through official website. Let’s hope Disney or EA don’t give them too much legal trouble. Check out these comparison shots of old versus new... SWOTOR Remake, comparison SWOTOR Remake, Tatooine SWOTOR Remake, new city
