Sony has confirmed that it has stopped making games for the PS Vita, meaning that the portable gaming system will no longer get any first-party tiles. It’s a move most saw coming from a mile away.
While the PS Vita has struggling to gain a foothold in lucrative North America and Europe, it’s somewhat successful in its home market of Japan. Even so, Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito revealed to the guys at 4Gamer
that the platform will from now on rely on third-party. He stated:
“Currently, first-party studios have no titles in development for PS Vita. Since third-parties are working very hard on PS Vita, SCE’s own strategy is to focus on PS4, which is a new platform.”
Nintendo reigns supreme with the DS and 3DS...
Considering the surprising sales success of the PS4 over the Xbox One, it's no surprise that struggling Sony is giving the PS4 much more love than the poorly-performing Vita as it solidifies its position in the gaming sector. Fortunately, third party developers will still keep the games coming, meaning the Vita isn’t quite dead yet.
