Robin Williams's untimely death is still fresh in the minds of his loved ones and avid fans. The highly- respected actor and comedian loved video games and, in particular, The Legend of Zelda so much that he named his one and only daughter after the series' namesake princess. As a sign of respect, tens of thousands of his fellow gamers petitioned Nintendo to have him memorialized in the next Legend of Zelda game. Nintendo has finally acknowledged the fan request, stating in a statement:
"Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo. Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we’ve worked with multiple times. We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close."Even though Nintendo didn't promise anything, it clearly has a strong appreciation for the actor and seems to indicate it will pay tribute to him in some way. In fact, a company spokesman was quoted to have said "nothing has been decided, but we won't rule out the request." If Robin Williams' fans get their wish, the next Legend of Zelda game would be the second game to pay tribute to the funny man. Blizzard has already announced that he will appear as an NPC in their popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft.
