One of the best free-to-play MMO is coming to consoles. After years of being playable only on the PC, Neverwinter will finally be released on the Xbox One and PS4 sometime in the “first half of 2015.” While the game was confirmed for the Xbox One, we had to infer its release for the PS4. So as things stand, Neverwinter will appear on Microsoft’s home console first, and then possibly later on Sony’s PlayStation. It will include several of the already released major updates, in addition to the Foundry, an in-game system that gives players a highly-capable content creation toolkit to design and share their own custom quests and levels. Alan Chen, CEO of Perfect World Entertainment, had the following to say:
Neverwinter is our premier title to bring to console players. Consoles are a perfect fit for action-oriented MMORPGs like Neverwinter, and we are thrilled to be one of the first publishers to bring premium free-to-play titles to leading next-gen platforms. Being able to bring Neverwinter to the Xbox One is a critical achievement for Perfect World. It is our first step taking our games beyond the PC market.Like World of Warcraft, Neverwinter is rooted in Dungeons & Dragons and has very rich lore. It also features one of the most exciting MMO combat systems you will ever experience.
