Minecraft is an addictive game, but to say it's visually simple would be an understatement. Fortunately, there is a new mod that lets you spice things up quite a bit by giving you notably better graphics. Called 'Better Foliage', it transforms the game's voxel-esque visuals into something surprisingly beautiful and realistic. Now, some would say the graphical improvements detract from Minecraft's simplistic charm, but after seeing the comparison image below, even you can't deny how dramatically altered the game's world looks: [gallery columns="2" link="file" size="large" ids="286,287"] According to 'Better Foliage' creator OctarineNoise, the mod "makes your plant life a bit more verdant and fluffy by drawing some extra stuff on trees, grass blocks, cacti, lily pads. [It] also adds reeds in shallow water." Even though the mod is client only, it will supposedly not crash you server if you add it to your game accidentally. But given the extent of the improvements, you’d be wise to check your PC/laptop specs before getting it. Better Foliage can be downloaded here.
