Despite reports claiming Sony is working on a more powerful PlayStation 4, it seems all the rumors surrounding the Xbox One getting a hardware upgrade ware, well, nothing more than hot air.

Speaking at press conference held after Microsoft Build 2016, one that was attended by Gamespot, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said he had no knowledge of a more powerful Xbox One being in production when asked if Microsoft would follow in Sony’s footsteps. He specifically stated:
“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. “For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. “If we’re going to go forward with anything, I want it to be a really substantial change for people–an upgrade.”
Rumors of an upgraded PlayStation 4 with an upgraded CPU and 4K support first surfaced during GDC 2016. Apparently, Sony discussed the console with developers at the event, and some of those developers were overheard conversing about the PS4.5 on the show floor. Several sources have confirmed the console’s existence and referred to it as PlayStation 4K, with one revealing to the Wall Street Journal that we should expect it sometime in October 2016. Would it be a mistake if Microsoft doesn't respond to Sony if the PlayStation 4.5 turns out to be more than just a rumor? Let us know in the comments below.
