One of the most critically-acclaimed games on the PlayStation 3 and of the last gaming generation -- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- is coming to the PlayStation Network (PSN), giving those who missed out on Kojima’s masterpiece the first time around another chance to experience it. It’s the first time the game has been made available digitally for the PS3. Released in 2008 and set five years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 4 takes place in a world where the global economy relies on continuous civil wars fought with government military forces equipped with nano machines. Military soldiers and other personnel are controlled through a network called Sons of the Patriots, which villain Liquid Ocelot is aiming to hijack. You unsurprisingly play as Solid Snake, who is undergoing rapid aging due to the fact that he’s actually a clone, and take on missions around the world to eliminate Liquid Ocelot. Metal Gear Solid 4 came bundled with Metal Gear Online, a multiplayer service that garnered one million registered players but was nevertheless shut down in 2012. Those interested in the gem of a game will need around €19.99 / $20 to get the action started, as well as 30 GB of hard disk space.
