During publisher Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2015 Earnings Call, CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has surpassed the 34 million sales mark, making the latest installment in the GTA series the sixth best-selling game of all time. Grand Theft Auto V sold a whopping 29 million units within its first six weeks on the market and went on to grow that figure by an additional 5 million 12 months after. As of the time of this writing, Grand Theft Auto V is just one million units behind Mario Kart Wii and six million behind Super Mario Bros. Of all the games released in the past two years, only Call of Duty: Ghosts with 19 million units sold, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 at 24 million, and Diablo 3 at 15 million come even close to GTA 5’s tally. With the game now heading to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with better graphics and more content, you can bet that GTA 5 will jump at least a rank to become the fifth or even forth best-selling game of all time. In fact, Take-Two is even open to the idea of making a Grand Theft Auto HD remaster for the current generation of consoles. DON'T MISS: Buy GTA 5 Again for PC, PS4 or Xbox One, Get A Lot of Exclusive Content Grand Theft Auto V is a third-person, action-adventure game set mainly in the fictional city of Los Santos. Players complete missions to progress through the story, though they can freely-roam the open-world if they so choose. For the first time ever in a GTA game, the single-player mode lets players control three characters -- Michael De Santa, Trevor Philips, and Franklin Clinton -- whose stories interconnect as they complete missions. Some missions are completed with only one character, while others require two or all three. You can switch between the protagonists at any time through the directional compass on the HUD. We think Grand Theft Auto V has what it takes to become the fourth best-selling game of all time.
