Casey Hudson, the former director of BioWare’s Mass Effect series and one of the key visionaries of cult classic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, has joined Microsoft as a creative director on HoloLens, Xbox, and several other projects.
Hudson left BioWare
(now part of EA) in late in August 2014 after 15 years of employment in order to “enter a new stage of his career,” leaving behind the much-cherished Mass Effect series he helped create.
Describing his new job at Microsoft, he said:
"I was fortunate to try an early prototype of HoloLens before it was announced, and I was blown away by the technology and what it was already capable of. Walking on Mars while sipping coffee in an office setting, Skyping with a friend who can draw on the walls of my environment, sculpting an object in 3D modeling software while a hologram of it sits on a table next to me... These first experiences cemented my belief that holographic computing was where I needed to be.”
Microsoft is fortunate to have someone as talented as Hudson on their team. He reports to HoloLens project lead Kudo Tsunoda.
