After teasing gamers with a cryptic live stream full of cave paintings, Ubisoft has officially revealed Far Cry: Primal, the next installment in the much-loved Far Cry series.
Far Cry: Primal
is a notable departure from previous games, ditching the modern setting for a prehistoric world. The reveal trailer shows a band of ancient humans (“cavemen”) and elements of their primitive hunter-gatherer lifestyle as they try to survive in a harsh world, hunting massive Woolly Mammoths and fending off against saber tooth tigers. Sorry, no dinosaurs...
This is clearly a survival game, with the main goal being to “survive in a world where humans are the prey.”
Unlike the last Far Cry
spin-off, 2013’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
, which was a download-only game, Far Cry: Primal will be a full-fledged single player experience. It releases on February 23, 2016, on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
