The Xbox One Scorpio will truly be a powerful gaming machine; however, to get the most out of it, you will need a 4K TV.
That’s right, for most gamers, upgrading from the regular Xbox One to the Scorpio will need to be accompanied by upgrading your television set.
Just ask Xbox boss Phil Spencer; he’ll tell you...
When questioned why any gamer would choose the Xbox One S over the Scorpio in an interview
, Spencer said you should buy the One S if you have a standard 1080p TV, because “Scorpio is not going to do anything for you.”
He specifically stated:
“Scorpio is designed as a 4K console, and if you don’t have a 4K TV, the benefit we’ve designed for, you’re not going to see.
“Clearly, you can buy Scorpio, and if and when you decide you want to buy a 4K television to take advantage of the increased performance, obviously the console will be ready for you.”
With regards to the price of the upgraded Xbox, he stated:
“Scorpio is for the person who’s got a 4K television, who’s really focused on 4K gaming. It’s going to be a premium price over what we’re selling [the Xbox One S] for, and both of them will exist in the market at the same time. Scorpio is for your 4K gamer. And that’s what we designed it for.”
So there you have it -- the Xbox One Scorpio is aimed at hardcore gamers with a lot of money to spend.
