Ever wondered why series protagonist Link to speak in The Legend of Zelda games? Well, so have we. Longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has admitted that he gets “a lot of fan requests” for everyone’s favorite Nintendo hero to utter a sentence, and we’re not surprised.
In an interview with GamesMaster magazine
in which he talked about the game, Aonuma unfortunately expressed a disinterest in Link speaking, stating:
“We’ve had a lot of requests from fans to hear [Link’s] voice, and while in some ways I do feel that it could be good to have a game where he speaks, part of me also feels that that air of proud independence he has because he doesn’t speak is a precious part of the individuality of his character. I want to think long and hard about whether changing that would be for the better or not before I make any decision.”
It seems Link won’t be talking in the Zelda Wii U video game, but it’s not too late for Nintendo to make some last minute changes.
In an ideal world, Link would talk. How do you think he should sound? Let us know in the comments below.
