Publisher Activision has revealed that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is the best-selling game of 2014, achieving the feat just one month after going on sale. The first-person shooter launched on November 9. A big reason why Call of Duty Advanced Warfare sold so well is because it was included in a bundle with the Xbox One and in fact helped Microsoft’s video game console become the best-selling console of November, the first time it outsold the PlayStation 4. Interestingly, a Call of Duty game has been the number one selling game in November since 2006 Another Activision game, Destiny, was the second best-selling game in 2014. The game was developed by the guys at Bungie, who were acquired by Activision following the studio’s split from Microsoft after the completion of Halo Reach. Getting back to Call of Duty, Call of Duty Ghosts did not perform as successfully as Black Ops II and it looks like Advanced Warfare might not do so as well. Even so, how money companies can boast having the “biggest entertainment launch of 2014”? Activision is the envy of the video game industry.
