Adding to the string of video game movies coming soon, a Borderlands film is currently in development by Lionsgate with the help of producers Avi and Ari Arad.
Developed by Gearbox Software and published by Take-Two Interactive, Borderlands
is a successful role-playing, first-person shooter series that has shipped over 26 million copies since launching in 2009. It is set in the sci-fi world of Pandora and features a captivating and oftentimes hysterical storyline that should transition well onto the big screen.
Avi Arad is the founder of Marvel Studios, which he left back in 2006 to form Arad Productions, his very own company. Together with his son, Ari, he has been involved in the creation of such film franchises as Iron Man
, Spider Man
and The Amazing Spider Man
, Ghost Rider
It's apparent that his team brings a lot of experience to the table, which bodes well for all their future projects...
In addition to Borderlands, Arad Productions is currently working on movie adaptations of Mass Effect
, Metal Gear Solid
, some of the most-recognizable videogame franchises of all time.
