Beyond Good and Evil 2, which has been in development hell for years, will reportedly be exclusive to the Nintendo NX.
According to Destructoid
, the sequel has been revived by Nintendo and is now being developed for the company’s new system, with an expected release date of sometime in 2017. They sourced Geno, an industry insider with a proven track record.
The game currently has a working title of Beyond Good and Evil: The Prejudices of Philosophers
, and Nintendo hopes to win “audience goodwill” with it. The company did the same thing with Bayonetta 2
, a similarly-troubled sequel that it brought under its umbrella because of the series’ strong cult following.
Michel Ancel, creator of the original game, has had a mysterious role in the game’s development. One year, he’s not working on Beyond Good and Evil 2
; the next, he’s back to having his name attached to the project.
Let’s just hope all turns out well...
