The linkedin page of a freelance animator has revealed that a new Superman video game is under development. It’s about goddamn time!
Kieran Turan, the animator in question, mentioned on his page
that he did “troubleshooting and repair of the 3D facial rig for the upcoming ‘Superman’ videogame title for GameOn Audio,” pretty much confirming that the Man of Steel is finally getting a serious game after almost 20 years.
For those unfamiliar with Game On Audio, it is a production company that provides audio and motion capture work for several game studios. Some notable games they have worked include Halo 4
, Assassin’s Creed IV
and even Batman: Arkham Origins
The fact that they worked on Batman: Arkham Origins is rather telling, because it was previously rumored that the publisher behind that game, Warner Bros., is working on a Superman video game of some kind.
Unfortunately, with Warner Bros. busy dealing with the Batman: Arkham Knight launch disaster
, they are unlikely to announce anything official soon. Even so, can you imagine how awesome a Superman game inspired by the Batman Arkham
series will be?
