System Shock, one of the highest rated games of all time, is getting a reboot.
Developer Night Dive Studios originally intended the game to be a remaster but figured more could be done.
In an interview with Polygon, studio CEO Stephen Kick said the project was now a “full-fledged reboot of a classic game into something new,” adding:
“We felt that the amount of passion and resources that we are putting into this game elevated it beyond the expectations that someone would have for a remaster.”
Kick said a playable demo will be available via GOG, Humble and Steam for PC on June 28, providing gamers a taste of what’s to come.
Night Dive was the team behind the Enhanced Edition of the original System Shock, so it has experience with the title.
The System Shock Reboot is slated for a release sometime in 2017 on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Will you be picking it up?
