With superheroes making a big splash in theatres, some studios have been trying very hard to replicate that success with some of your favorite video game franchises. 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment, in particular, are busy making a Mega Man movie.
Mega Man fans have long wished for a movie adaptation of the Capcom’s Blue Bomber, and now it looks like their prayers have been answered. Apparently, Fox has been working on the film since at least the end of 2014, when it registered the domain name “megaman-movie.com.”
As the company behind the rebooted Planet of the Apes series, The Heat and Spy, the talented guys at Chernin Entertainment are well-respected in the movie industry and bring a lot of experience to the table. Considering how poorly video game-based films have fared in cinemas, this bolds well for Mega Man’s first foray onto the big screen.
Truth be told, the iconic young hero has fallen off in popularity in recent times, but the fact that a collection of the first six Mega Man games can now be played on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo 3DS means there are people out there still interested in him.
While there is no guarantee that a Mega Man movie will hold as much appeal as the video games, there is a good chance it will turn out well.
