While many kids get away with stealing, one American kid not only got caught in the act, but also had to watch as his Xbox got destroyed by his father as punishment.
The mischievous kid was actually ‘fortunate’ to be given two options by his pissed off dad: 1) get the ass-whopping of a lifetime, one with a belt, or 2) watch as his $400 Xbox 360 gets obliterated.
Needless to say, he ended up seeing — watery eye and all — what happens when a full-size SUV runs over a fragile gaming device and his days owning noobs in Call of Duty come to an end. Daddy didn’t want to go jail…
Is there any kid who wouldn’t be traumatized by something like that?
Which option would you have chosen?
EA Sets New Guinness World Record For Most Downvoted Reddit Comment
Records are usually to be admired, but definitely not this one.
Electronic Arts has won what has to be one of the worst Guinness World Record of the digital age.
The American game publisher has received the 2020 Guinness World Record for the most downvoted Reddit comment as a result of its controversial comment on Star Wars Battlefront 2’s lootboxes back in November 12, 2017. This dubious yet impressive feat was spotted in the Guinness World Records by Reddit user -amsha-.
EA’s unpopular comment received an almost unbelievable 667,821 downvotes, handily beating the second most downvoted comment by more than 600,000 votes. Oddly enough, it also received 109 Reddit Gold awards.
Here is the comment in full:
The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.
As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.
We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.
Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.
EA’s comment is hated on a scale never before seen in Reddit history, and we don’t think it will be beat in the foreseeable future.
Simply creating a free account on the Guinness World Records website will allow you to look up every record to date, including the EA record, which is listed under “Most downvoted comment on Reddit.”
Anti-violent Games Politician Leland Yee Sentenced to Prison
Leland Yee, a former California State Senator and gun control advocate who tried to pass a bill banning the sale of violent games to children, has been sentenced to five years in prison for racketeering, weapons smuggling, and other criminal acts.
According to San Jose Mercury News, 67-year-old Yee and 25 other defendants were arrested during an FBI sweep in March 2014. He faced up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine plus restitution, but a plea deal reduced the sentence.
Prosecutors said he demonstrated “a venal attitude toward his position as an elected public official” and had absolutely no qualms abusing his position of power. In other words, he is a shameless hypocrite.
Other defendants include dRaymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, the current Dragonhead (leader) of the San Francisco-based Chee Kung Tong organization and Yee’s consultant, Keith, who was charged with “soliciting donations from FBI undercover agents, in exchange for multiple official acts.”
Yee has a criminal history. He was arrested in 2000 after being suspected of shoplifting suntan oil and, in 1999, was pulled over twice by police for suspicious of looking to hook up with a prostitute. He was never charged for the latter.
The world is full of hypocrites, people, and Yee is a perfect example of one. Beware…
Check Out the Official Assassin’s Creed Movie Poster
The Assassin’s Creed movie has received its first official poster and it’s what you likely expected.
Similar in presentation as the first Assassin’s Creed game, the poster features the now-familiar Animus’ virtual glitching lines and a soaring eagle, both major symbols of the franchise.
The Assassin’s Creed movie releases on December 21, 2016, and stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. It is directed by Justin Kurzel, who worked with both actor’s on the critically-acclaimed 2015 iteration of Macbeth.
Details about the movie’s plot are scarce. Some reports claim Fassbender would play Desmond Miles, but it is currently unknown if any of the video game assassins will be featured.
Check out the Assassin’s Creed movie poster and let us know what you think. Are you as excited as we are to finally see Assassin’s Creed on the big screen?
Guy Plays Arcade Shooting Game as if it’s Real Life
The goal of every video game developer should be to make games that immerse players completely. If you’re like me, lack of immersion ruins the gameplay experience; however, if you’re like the Asian guy in this video, it’s only the beginning of something truly intense.
While playing an arcade shooting game, he completely acts out the in-game character, entering the exact same gun-holding pose, walking and running to get to places, and falling to the floor when shot. And, yes, those are shooting gloves he is wearing!
He gives a new meaning to video game immersion…
You could laugh at him all you want, but he’s having a blast and likely got way more out of his 0.50-$1 than we will ever. He’s intense and doesn’t care what anyone thinks…
Chinese Parents Sell Children to Buy Video Games
In what must be one of the dumbest, careless and most rotten things anyone can do, two Chinese parents have been arrested for allegedly selling their children to child traffickers in order to buy more virtual items for free-to-play video games.
According to the young unwed parents, their first child was unplanned and, as they were not able to support him financially, was sold off to traffickers. It didn’t help that they were blowing whatever little money they had on online games.
You’d think they’ve learned a lesson the first time around, but then they had a second son. And again they decided they could support the child, so they sold him off too.
Video game addiction is a problem in China, but child trafficking is an even bigger problem, one affecting thousands of people every year. Children in the possession of traffickers are sold to new parents, street gangs and street peddlers, and/or even orphanages for adoption overseas.
Considering that trafficking children is highly illegal in China, convicted felons often face execution. It was the husband’s father — likely out of concern for his grandchildren — who reported the problem to the police. The couple are now in prison and awaiting trial and sentencing.
