Microsoft has seen sales of their Xbox One double just one month after taking the Kinect out of the console’s bundle.
Most likely in response to strong outcry from consumers regarding being forced to buy the voice and motion sensing input peripheral, the removal of Kinect comes as no surprise. The move reduced the Xbox One’s price by $100, making it more palatable for prospective buyers.
Despite the significant sales increase, the PS4 still leads the sales war between the two consoles, having sold more overall in the first six months of 2014.
The Kinect is now being sold separately as a stand-alone accessory, in case you still want one. Were you one of those that waited for the device to be removed before buying an Xbox One?
