Titanfall Update 8 brings to the action-packed first-person shooter a host of improvements and content, including a new player versus AI co-op mode called Frontier Defense. Developer Respawn Entertainment says some of the changes are experimental but that any issues that arise will be fixed as soon as possible.
Frontier Defense allows you to team up with three other players to a vital objective fro waves of AI enemies.
Speaking of enemies, Respawn added several new creatures to the game, including hordes of Grunts and Spectres, stealthy Sniper Spectres and Cloak Drones. If that wasn’t enough, you also now have to contend with Suicide Spectres, Nuclear Titans, ranged Mortar Titans, and melee-resistant Arc Titans.
Frontier Defense also introduces several new gameplay elements, such as the ability to place stationary turrets around the battlefield or refill via Loadout Crates near the objective, as well as a Ranked Play mode that has you battle through an increasingly challenging set of Tiers by out-performing other Pilots in combat.
Currently in beta form, Ranked Play will be implemented in all standard competitive matches and will be opened to all level 32 or higher players. In order to participate in the Beta, you have to be a Gen 10 Player or have a Gen 10 gamer friend who can send you one of his / her five invites.
Titanfall Update 8 also modifies the rules of Capture the Flag. From now on, if the scores are tied when the timer runs out, the match will go into Sudden Death. Players will no longer be able to respawn, with the first team to capture the opponent’s flag wining.
A slew of new items and bug fixes round off Titanfall Update 8. The full list of new content and updates can be found on the Titanfall website.
