Shortly after the Killer Instinct Season 2 trailer dropped, Iron Galaxy Studios’ Community Manager went on twitter to announce that Season 2 benefits from a resolution bump from 720p to 900p that effectively gives Killer Instinct better graphics.
We have always found Killer Instinct to be one of the best-looking fighting games out there, so a resolution pump that results in more fluid visuals makes an already fantastic looking game look even better.
However, it’s unfortunate that the Season 2 characters — TJ Combo and Maya, in particular — have many strange and choppy animations that detract from Killer Instinct’s solid graphical appeal. Iron Galaxy needs to step their character designs, because as things are right now, they are not matching the high level of quality set by Double Helix in Season 1.
Killer Instinct Season 2 brings a host of new changes, additions and “improvements” to Killer Instinct Xbox One, including eight new characters (Cinder and Riptor make a return); an overhauled user interface and progression system; new moves for the Season 1 characters, plus a rebalancing; an “enhanced” combo system; and Stage Ultras.
In the comments section, let us know which additions and changes you like the most about Killer Instinct Season 2 and which ones you think were uncalled for. Frankly, while some of the modifications are, we find others to be both upsetting and unnecessary (the stripping of features from the interface, for instance).
