![]() HOSTING
REQUIREMENTS:
Each site on gametribute.com must be dedicated solely to one video game or series. If you wish to cover multiple series, you will need to have a separate site here for each. We will accept submissions for tributes of classic as well as contemporary video games. We will not host sites that have ROM images or full retail games for download. "Abandonware" falls under this category. Of course, if a game's copyright holders have given express permission to distribute one of their games, we don't have a problem with making it available for download. We are also not looking for clan sites or maps and mod sites. Just tribute sites dedicated to the original games (and any official expansions, of course). HOSTING FAQ: How much will it cost to have my tribute site hosted here? Most tribute sites will be hosted free of charge. You do need to comply with our hosting rules, which are outlined on our submission page. Generally speaking, most tribute sites will be fairly small as they are devoted to a single game. However, we understand that there are occasions where a tribute site can get quite large (such as a Mortal Kombat Tribute with videos of all the fatalities from every game). In cases like these where a great deal of space and bandwidth is necessary, we will ask that you help pay for our bandwidth. Sites up to 100 megabytes will remain free. If you require more than 100 megabytes for your site, I may ask you to contribute to to help pay for gametribute.com's server costs. This will be looked at on a case by case basis. How much space and bandwidth do I get? This depends on the needs of your site. You will receive an initial allotment 25 megabytes, though that number may be increased as you approach your limit. We currently do not plan to limit the amount of bandwidth the tribute sites can use. Do I need to put up any ad banners? We do not require ad banners, pop ups, or anything like that - in fact we discourage it. The only thing we require is that you post a link at the bottom of your site's main page that says "hosted by gametribute.com." That's it. What are the criteria for getting hosted? First things first - we are here to host tribute sites, not ideas for tribute sites. Therefore we require that your site have some amount of content before we'll consider it for hosting - a paragraph and a screenshot doesn't really sound like much of a tribute. We're not looking for every piece of information available on a game (though that could be cool) - just enough to make a reasaonable tribute or shrine. Once you've got content, you'll need to show us your site. Visit the site submission page and we'll help you figure out the best way to show us your site. You'll also need to read and agree to our Terms of Service. If we accept your site, great! Welcome aboard. If not, we'll provide feedback as to why we did not so you can make any necessary changes and resubmit it in the future. So what are we looking for? Well, basically, the site should look nice. I'm not talking about professional level web design here, but, come on, huge blinking text does not look good, in any context. Nor do sixteen font, size, and color changes on a single page. I invite you to do a Google search for bad web design and give yourself a bit of a refresher course. Secondly, we do require that the site be in English - having information about Japanese games is fine, but the information should be in English (or at the very least roomaji for things like song lyrics in Japanese) . Also, generally speaking, the more obscure the game, the better the odds that we'll want a site about it hosted here. Grand Theft Auto and Madden shrines can be hosted somewhere else. I want you guys to host my tribute site, but you already have a site dedicated to that game! What can I do? Give us a link anyway! While we generally will run on a first come first serve basis, we may make exceptions from time to time. Chances are we won't host two tribute sites for the same game, but if they're both really good... we might make an exception. And of course, you can always get in touch with the administrator of that game tribute site to see if you can work together on the tribute site (or possibly take it over for them if they no longer wish to update it).. What a great way to make friends. And you already have something in common! Who owns the copyright to my tribute site once it's hosted here? All copyrights will remain property of their original owner. Gametribute.com does not take control of any of your copyrights. I still have more questions that haven't been answered here. Where should I ask them? Just visit our contact page. Fill out the form and we will generally respond to you within 24 hours. gametribute.com ©2005 benstylus. All rights reserved.
