Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has revived the series’ player base.

The latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series has set a new record for concurrent player counts on Steam, according to GitHyp.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey garnered 62,000 concurrent players on Steam in its launch week, which is a 33% increase over the 41,000 concurrent players of its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

That makes Odyssey the highest played title in series history in terms of concurrent players on Steam.

In the UK, the game took the number two spot on the sales chart, failing to knock FIFA 19 from the top.

Moreover, physical sales were down compared to Origins, although the situation is likely better when digital copies are taken into account.

People Are Mad About Women In Total War: Rome 2

Total War Rome 2 women general

Yikes! People are mad about women in video games again.

It seems that no matter how hard you try, there is no throwing a stone without hitting one of those troublesome hominids. A man just can’t seem to catch a break.

Yep, there are still people out there who get angry at seeing women in video games. This time around, the game in question is Total War: Rome 2.

The strategy game, which allows players to completely change the course of history, was review bombed on Steam because female generals can be recruited. It started off with a “mostly positive” overall rating on Steam, but later reviews are “overwhelmingly negative”.

One reviewer with with over 40 hours of playtime exclaimed “Women,” while another with just 0.2 hours of playtime squealed “Marxist Propaganda!” “Wtf are women,” wondered another reviewer.

Such is the flagrancy of the issue that developer Creative Assembly was forced to make an official statement on the matter:

Women in Total War Rome 2 statement

As Creative Assembly points out in the statement, the spawn rates of female generals hasn’t changed, and each civilization’s spawn rates are in line with its culture. The only change is the addition of the family tree, which may see more women step into a general position due to marriage.

Unfortunately for the women haters, the developer has no plans to change the spawn rates of women. Total War: Rome 2 will retain its women as is.
