red-dead-redemption-2

As promised, Rockstar Games has dropped the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, and what little it shows will surely get fans of the series excited.

Everything looks to be generated in-game (no CGI). The fully-detailed environment, bison, canoes, stagecoaches, steam trains, chickens, oil fields and cowboys … There will be a lot to see and do in this breathing, living world …

Here’s the initial description of the game, taken straight from its official website:

“Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on the Xbox One and PS4 in fall 2017. Are you excited for it?

The Witcher’s Voice Actor Wants To Work On Uncharted

Geralt of Rivia Thumbs Up

Uncharted is not the only series the gravelly-voiced actor behind Geralt of Rivia is interested in.

As a video game actor for nearly two decades, Doug Cockle has definitely left a mark on gaming, however small the mark, especially in the hearts of The Witcher fans. Yet, despite all his experience in games, movies, television shows, and even on the stage, he has never worked in motion capture.

“I have yet to get into a motion capture suite,” Cockle told VG247 in an interview. “It’s something I really want to do – it’s on my bucket list.”

All his voice acting for the The Witcher series was done in the recording booth. He’s actually never met the actress who plays Yennefer, and only met Triss’ actress while passing in the corridors between their sessions.

“I’d love to be part of the Uncharted series,” he said, joking that it would also be a lot fun being in Tomb Raider but just not as Lara Croft for obvious reasons.

He expressed great interest in “getting in bed” with the developer of What Remains of Edith Finch, an interactive graphic novel that he things is beautifully done.

Either way, considering his quality performance in the The Witcher series, Cockle (you can follow him on Twitter) will be a great addition to any developer’s team. Dust imagine what he can deliver in a mocap studio.

What game would you like to see him in?

The LGBT Community Loves Marvel’s Spider-Man Game, Here’s Why

Marvel’s Spider-Man peace sign

The power of inclusion cannot be denied…

It didn’t take long for Insomniac Games’ new Spider-Man title to steal the headlines. Whether it’s the addition of Stan Lee or the painstaking detail to graphics, animation, audio and, of course, gameplay, there is to a lot to like about the web crawler’s latest interactive adventure. However, it’s not just the quality of the game that got people talking.

In the words of Senior Environment Artist Ryan Benno, “Representation is so important. It’s something we wanted to put in this game, even in a small way like this.” Well, that’s definately something Insomniac achieved. The LGBT representation, in particular, took notice of the efforts.

Over at Twitter, a number of gamers posted screenshots of the area in which a giant rainbow flag flies proudly over NYC.

Spider-Man Game Pride flag

“Wow. I stopped to perch on a building in #Spidermanps4 and looked over and saw this. Thinking about all the 12-year-old kids who will be playing this game and seeing this in towns where it’s not safe to put that flag up,” stated Saladin Ahmed, while Gabriel Novicki posted “Im honestly so ptoud of insomniac for putting this in the game and im a huge support of the comunity !!!! ⚡️ The pride flag in Spider-Man is more than just a novelty to LGBTQ gamers.”

Jacinda Chew, Art Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man, was certainly pleased that players noticed the LGBT representation woven into the game, replying “I’m glad people are noticing this detail. Spider-Man is for everyone! #SpidermanPS4.”

Just goes to show you how even a minor inclusion could be a great source of positive word of mouth. Not that Marvel’s Spider-Man could use the extra positivity — with an average rating of 87% on metacritic, it’s already of the best video games ever made.
